MY PLACEI am set firmly in my place. I have been here for 34 years and I will not be moved. Other people are in other places, other countries, other lives. But I am here. This is my place, and I am happy. Every morning I get up, feed the cats and go upstairs to work in my attic. There I have pencils, paper, paint, brushed, clay, glazes, tools, magazines, books, envelopes, rubber stamps, cardboard and even a hammer. In another room there is a printing press and in even another room a computer. All day long I make things. I made sculpture and postcards and letters and pictures and once in awhile even a print. Sometimes I ask myself: where am I going? What am I doing? What is it for? What is life all about? Is this it? Is there more? Am I missing something? And sometimes I think--this is it. This is right. I am happy. What a bonjour day! |
