I met Temba Modasie when I visited South Africa on my way to visit my daughter who was in the Peace Corps in Botswana. He was a potter living in Soweto. I told him I was gald he had come into Johannesberg to meet me because I probably would have been afraid to go to Soweto and he told me "Oh no, Soweto is safe. I would be afraid to go to America to New York City."
