My friend Miriam fell and broke her femur. I told her to save the staples they used to mend her leg when she had them removed. I used them to make braces for this painting, on a piece of wood, of Mavis and her new dental work.
After I drew Mavis I got the urge to draw an actual person. I asked my friend Audrey Potter to sit for me. I told her that the drawing I made would never look like her and she said she didn’t care. She has a beautiful green chair, sort of shell shaped, in her living room and that is where she sat.
